With market leading international B2B brands comprising print, digital & events, our client has embarked on an extensive growth and investment programme which has seen the workforce increase by 50% in the last 3 years. With this growth has come the need to re-structure the sales team into smaller sub-teams allowing us to fulfil our strategic objectives. To that end, the company is looking for candidates with a passion for what they do and seeking their next challenge.

A new opportunity has arisen to head up part of the company’s portfolio (revenues in the region of £1.5-£2 million), being responsible for two/three of the companies brands, managing a sales team of up to 12 individuals.

The Commercial Directors will play significant roles ensuring budgeted revenue and profit targets for the portfolio are achieved whilst growing the overall profitability and margins, specifically in digital and events. We are looking for exceptional, highly motivated and accomplished Commercial Director with a tenacious attitude and desire to succeed.

This is a senior role within the business and you will be expected to work closely with the editorial, marketing, digital and events teams to meet and ideally exceed revenue and profitability targets.

The Role : Responsibilities

  • Reporting directly to the Managing Director you will have responsibility for the group’s commercial activity
  • Regular international travel to trade shows, exhibitions and clients
  • This high level position involves evaluating commercial activities, implementing new concepts and developing strategic business plans to maximise revenues and satisfy customer needs
  • Managing and developing a team of sales people (at least 5 individuals) and putting clear KPI’s in place to measure performance
  • Significant track record of consistently achieving sales targets
  • Deliver a personal contribution to achieving sales targets across the portfolio
  • Recruit, manage and motivate teams to deliver sales exceeding targets
  • Contribute to financial forecasts and budgeting process
  • Deliver accurate, timely forecasts based upon detailed market assessment
  • Gather market intelligence, communicating this to the Managing Director as required
  • Lead team by example, maintaining relationships with key clients and educating the market of the value of B2B media
  • Work with all relevant departments to maximise long term sustainable return and shareholder value

You will be responsible for the commercial development across all revenue streams (print, digital and events). You will have significant personal accountability for generating revenue and ensuring that both team and individual targets are achieved throughout the portfolio. This position demands highly refined client relationship skills as well as business development, team management and project management experience.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years’ experience selling and managing across B2B events, publications and digital platforms
  • A strong strategist able to communicate at a very senior level
  • An astute individual who enjoys operating in a fast moving and challenging environment
  • Commercially creative and able
  • Proactive and keen to drive viable new initiatives
  • Ability to work under pressure and within tight timelines
  • Highly organised, driven and motivated individual
  • Enthusiastic and passionate; desire to succeed

Remuneration

  • Very competitive package (subject to relevant experience)
  • Great commission structure and OTE potential : in excess of £100k/annum
